Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Just give us a call and let us know your situation. We will coordinate with you to have a nanny come to your home, follow your care instructions for your child, and keep you updated about your child's day while you work. We ask that you fill out our Agreement for Services and brief Health Appraisal before we send your nanny. If your child will require medication to be administered by your nanny, please also fill out the Medication Administration form prior to your nanny's arrival.

What ages do you provide care for?

We care for children aged 3 months - 12 years.

I'm in a bind now! How much notice do you need?

We have nannies ready to help Monday - Friday 6am - 6pm! Our Locations page only lists areas that our nannies can travel to with less than 2 hours notice (usually faster). For Arvada, Lakewood, Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder - these areas require more than 2 hours' notice.

What types of illnesses are appropriate for There There Backup in-home care?

Colds, upper respiratory infections, chicken pox, flu, stomach viruses... any minor illness that would require the child to stay home from school. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to provide care in homes with a COVID, or a suspected COVID exposure.

How do nannies stay well/prevent spreading illness?

Great question! Not only are we obsessed with handwashing, we have protocols that our nannies follow even after leaving your home to help stay healthy. {Its a good idea to explain to your child that your nanny may need to wear gloves when taking a temperature, administering medication, etc. and there may be situations where the nanny will need to wear a mask.} All of our nannies are part-time and never care for children in two different homes on the same day - this helps minimize the spread of germs.

Why trust us?

We evaluate nannies like we would scrutinize a stranger caring for our own children! These are our babies we are talking about!! We will never send someone to your house that was simply plucked from a nanny search engine. We are a small but growing, local company and this is all we do. Our nannies are handpicked to ensure the highest level of care and expertise. Our screening process consists of a criminal and financial history, a behavioral review, conversations with at least two references, a phone interview and an in-person interview. This is my business and I will not let anyone represent us that I would not leave with my own child, this is my promise to you.

Additionally, our all of our nannies have been trained to update parents as often as the parents would like and be ready to respond immediately to requests for updates. Nannies will send photos, temperature reports, food and fluid intake reports, whatever you need to feel comfortable that your child is in good hands.

What type of backup care do you offer?

Every kind - whether your child is sick or healthy, we are simply backup child care. Call us anytime your plans change on short notice or you just need a little extra help and don’t have the time to search for a safe care provider.

Can I call anytime? It’s 3am and my little one has a fever...

Yes, you can call and leave a message anytime! We check messages every morning at 6am and will return your call asap in the order in which it was received. Just be sure to include in your message what times are appropriate for us to call you so we don’t wake you up too early.

What if I need backup care on a night or weekend?

We actually have several nannies who would love to help on nights and weekends. Just give us a call!

How far in advance can I book a nanny?

If you know you have future dates that you will need to arrange care, let us know as soon as you can. We book up to 3 months in advance.
